Hi Experts (Zahis, Victor, Someone, Ingo),
I saw this SDN thread and all the experts have answered this question. My question is also in the similar lines. That’s why I asked this question in the same thread. Otherwise I will post this as separate question.
My requirement is:
I have to display set of reports in the expand and collapse format. I know this can be achieved
With Breaks in WEBI. I saw it in one of the Ingo Hilgefort document. Also I have also read that it can be achieved in OLAP analysis with “COMPACT DISPLAY IN ROWS’ feature.
I believe the expand collapse feature is available in Bex only if I use the hierarchy. I.e. if we enable the Info object as hierarchy. For my report I have some characteristics as hierarchy and some of them are not.
Here are the characteristics I am using in the report.
Sales org (Not hierarchy) But has attributes like!) Sales division, Sales mgr., cost center, sales position
Division (Not hierarchy)
Customer (Hierarchy)
Product (Hierarchy)
Industry (hierarchy)
Package (No hierarchy).
1) As we can see some of them are in hierarchy and some of them are not. But the user wants to display the data like below in expand collapse. I want to know which tool does the better job so that I can handle this requirement also the intension is to run this through Launch pad , assuming that the user will not install any local client software’s.
2) In order to do this what else that I need to do in BW (Create hierarchy for other charactestics which are not hierarchy’s)
3) Connecting to BW relationally where I can do custom hierarchy in universe but I have read
Lot of articles that it may not work well with combination of hierarchy and large amount of data I believe if we are using the universe we could have achieved this through custom hierarchies .Since we are using BICS (in 4.0)... What is the best way to handle this situation?
4) We are BW base. I am planning to do all calculation (ALL CKF & RKF) in BEx and going to BOBJ tools for just the presentation of the data thinking that data movement b/w the BW and BOBJ server. I am thinking of doing this from Performance perspective. I am completely building all the query as if I am doing it in Bex and using BOBJ to present the data. Could you please confirm that this is OAKY or best practice?
5) Do you suggest any other BOBJ tool to satisfy this requirement.
Thank you very much for going through this thread.
Magge.
